What does Energy Solutions do in Boring?

We handle the power side of Boring properties: backup power, solar, panel and service upgrades, EV chargers, and repairs on solar someone else installed. Boring is an unincorporated community in Clackamas County, about 12 miles southeast of Portland on Oregon Route 212, with more than 30 working plant and tree nurseries plus dairy and berry farms around it.

That mix matters for electrical work. A Boring property is often a house plus a barn, a shop, or a greenhouse, and each one changes how big the service, the panel, and any backup system need to be.

Why backup power is the first question here

Rural Clackamas County took the worst of the February 2021 ice storm, when ice more than an inch thick coated power lines and some customers lost power more than once. For a home on acreage, a long outage means no lights, no heat, and possibly no water.

A whole-house generator starts itself when the grid drops and runs as long as it has fuel, which suits long rural outages. A home battery is silent and needs no fuel, and it pairs well with solar. If your property depends on a well pump or a shop compressor, tell us at the quote and we size the system to cover it.

Does solar work with Boring's rain?

Yes, with good design. Boring averages about 54 inches of rain a year, noticeably more than Portland's 36, so panel placement and shade matter more here than in town. Larger lots often have room for a ground mount aimed where the trees are not, which can beat a shaded roof.

We look at the sun on your actual site before we design anything. Read the Boring solar guide or see residential solar. For a farm or business building, see commercial solar. The federal homeowner credit ended at the end of 2025; we check what Oregon programs may still apply.

Shops, barns, and older service

Adding a shop subpanel, an EV charger, or a battery often needs more capacity than an older farmhouse service has. We check the panel first and do the panel upgrade or service upgrade when the new load needs it. Charging an EV at home makes sense out here too; see EV charger installation.

Re-roofing a house with solar on it? We take the panels down and put them back. If your system stopped working and the installer is gone, our solar repair service works on other companies' systems.

A town with a famous name

Boring was named for William Harrison Boring, a Union Army veteran who farmed here from 1874, and it was platted in 1903 as Boring Junction on the electric rail line to Portland. Since 2012 it has been paired with Dull, Scotland, and later Bland, Australia. The Springwater Corridor trail starts here and runs all the way to Portland.

Nearby, we also serve Damascus, Estacada, and Gresham. Request a free quote or call (971) 526-5545.

Questions we hear a lot

Do you work on farms and nurseries in Boring?

Yes. We do the electrical side of homes, shops, barns, and farm buildings, including service upgrades and backup power.

Generator or battery for a rural Boring home?

A generator runs as long as it has fuel, which suits long outages. A battery is quiet and pairs with solar. We help you pick based on what must stay on.

Can solar go on the ground instead of my roof?

Often, yes, if the lot has room and sun. A ground mount can avoid roof shade from tall trees.
