What solar service is, and who it is for

Solar service is repair, diagnosis, and maintenance on a system that is already on your roof. It is for homeowners whose system has stopped producing, shows error lights, or lost its monitoring, and for owners of orphaned systems, where the installer is gone and no one is left to call.

Your hardware still belongs to you and keeps working unless something fails. It needs a new caretaker. We service systems we did not install. Read our guide: solar installer out of business? 4 steps to save your system.

What is included

  • A health diagnostic of panels, wiring, and racking
  • Inverter and microinverter troubleshooting, repair, or replacement
  • Restoring monitoring so you can see production again
  • Completion of stalled installs where permits or final steps were left undone
  • Battery additions or system expansion on existing arrays
  • Panel removal and reinstall for roof work

We will tell you what we find before any repair begins.

How a service call works

  1. Consultation and design. Tell us what you are seeing. We review your equipment, your monitoring, and your paperwork, then plan the diagnostic.
  2. Permitting and paperwork. If the fix needs a permit or utility sign-off, such as completing an unfinished install, we handle that paperwork.
  3. Installation. Our electricians test, repair, or replace what is needed and bring the system back online.
  4. Activation and support. We confirm the system is producing, restore monitoring, and stay available after the visit.

If your installer went out of business

Equipment warranties from the manufacturers usually survive an installer closing, but the installer's labor warranty does not. Gather your contract, your design drawings, and your utility Permission to Operate paperwork, identify your inverter and panel brands, and keep making any loan or lease payments. Then call us. We can look at the system, tell you what it needs, and help with the equipment side. We are not able to restore a workmanship warranty that an installer owed you, and we will say so plainly.

Before you call

A few minutes of prep makes the first conversation faster. Take a photo of your inverter or microinverter label and your main panel. Screenshot your monitoring app if it still works. Note when the problem started, and whether anything changed around then, such as a storm, a roof job, or the installer closing. Find your original contract and any Permission to Operate paperwork. None of this is required to call us, and we will help you work out what you have.

If your system is producing nothing, tell us. A system that is producing nothing is a larger loss each day than one producing a little less, and it can often be diagnosed quickly.

Equipment and brands

We install and service Enphase systems and work with Silfab and REC panels, and we can look at other makes during a diagnostic. Tell us what you have and we will say whether we can help before you book.

Permits and incentives

Some service work needs no new permit, while completed installs, added batteries, and system expansions often do, and we handle those permits and utility steps. Energy Trust of Oregon and state programs may apply to additions such as a battery. The federal homeowner credit has ended, so we do not promise it.

Signs your system needs service

  • Your utility bill jumped and you are not sure why
  • Your monitoring app shows zero production or red or orange error lights
  • The monitoring app went dark after the installer closed
  • An inverter shows an error code
  • Your installation was never finished or never got Permission to Operate

Why one licensed electrical team

One licensed team means one set of people who design the work, pull the permit, wire it, and answer the phone after it is running. Energy Solutions has been doing this since 2013, our crew carries 50+ years of combined team experience, and our Oregon CCB license number is 202002. Licensed electricians are on our own crew, so the electrical part of your job is not handed to a stranger.

Solar problems are often electrical problems. A failed breaker, an undersized panel, or bad wiring can look like a bad panel. Our electricians diagnose across the whole system, not just the equipment you can see.

What customers say

"We used them in 2017 for our first solar array of 36 panels... we recently lost our Wind Turbine and had them come out and install 27 more solar panels and a battery storage system."

Questions we hear a lot

My solar installer went out of business. Will my panels stop working?

No. Panels and inverters keep producing power. What you lose is support, monitoring, and the installer's labor warranty. We can service the system.

Do you service systems you did not install?

Yes. We look at systems from other installers and tell you what we can do before any work starts.

My monitoring app shows no production. What should I do?

Call us. It could be a failed inverter, a communication fault, or a shut-down portal. We diagnose which and fix it.

Can you finish an installation that was left half done?

Often yes. We review what was done, the permits, and the paperwork, then tell you what finishing the job requires.

What does solar service cost?

It depends on what we find. We tell you before any repair starts.
