The city has a solar PV page of its own
Oregon City publishes a dedicated Solar PV installation page that explains how to submit a prescriptive or non-prescriptive install. The city says no part of Oregon City exceeds the 70 pounds per square foot ground snow load used in the non-prescriptive criteria. Permits go through the city Citizen Self Service portal, because the city no longer uses the state ePermitting portal for its own permits. We file through it.
Historic districts: McLoughlin and Canemah
Oregon City has two historic districts, the McLoughlin Conservation District and the Canemah National Register District. The Historic Review Board has a Solar Technology policy, HRB Policy 12, and projects that meet the board's policies can get administrative staff approval instead of a board hearing. If you live in one of those districts, tell us first and we read the policy against your roof.
PGE, upper town, lower town
The city Utility Providers page lists PGE as the electric provider. PGE takes interconnection applications online through PowerClerk, and Energy Trust of Oregon solar incentives are open to Oregon customers of PGE or Pacific Power. Oregon City sits partly on a bench by the Willamette and partly on a basalt bluff, so roof exposure varies a lot between lower and upper town. The median home was built in 1992, and 65 percent of occupied homes are owner-occupied (Census ACS 2020-2024).
